April 7, 2006
International Recharge Your Batteries Day will take place on April 7, 2006, for the first time in recorded history amd then every year on the same day forever and ever. However, since recharging one's batteries is a matter that sometimes cannot wait for a special date to appear on the calendar, it is hereby allowed and permitted for you celebrate or observe this day, in any way you wish, on *ANY DAY OF THE CALENDAR YEAR.
*[Why April 7? Well, 4-7 is like 4 plus 7 which equals 11, and 7 and 11 are lucky numbers, so therefore, well, you understand, right?]
Whenever you feel it is high time for you to recharge your human batteries, go to it.
Now, there are many ways to recharge your batteries, and we know you know what they are, or at least, what some of them are. So go to it, and do what makes sense for you, and what is best for you. This international website and day of recognition will never dictate to anyone what is the proper way to recharge one's batteries. There are many ways, and they all work well. Choose your weapons! Ready, aim, fire!
In the meantime, it should also be noted that International Recharge Your Batteries Day has been set up to promote a special little poem written by David Henry Newman, who also goes by several other names, but this is a good one. The poem is titled "It's Never Too Late to Begin Again" and it's a book, too. You can read the book in English or Chinese online for free, or you can order it online from our distributor in Oreogn at
http://www.naturalchild.org/gallery/eyes_of_a_child/index.html
The poem itself is meant to help people recharge their batteries, by using a free form of poetry to invoke feelings of self-confidence and determination and perseverance ... to follow your dreams and make your own dreams come true.
You can read the poem online here, in Chinese or English, and soon in Japanese, Korean and other languages as well. We intend to make this text available in 25 languages worldwide soon.

"International Recharge Your Batteries Day" Aims to Do Just That
Press Release: for immediate release worldwide
SOUTH PACIFIC ISLAND GETAWAY -- In terms of sheer obscurity,
International Recharge Your Batteries Day is difficult to beat. (It
was April 7, but can be observed on any day of the year; more on this
later). Even the holiday's creator, Danny Bloom, has a hard time
naming any organization that actually marks the occasion. Mr. Bloom
invented the holiday as a part of a campaign to promote his book,
"It's Never Too Late to Begin Again." But for the most part, most
people around the world are still unaware of this holiday.
So Mr. Bloom's has embarked on a long-range media campaign to pump up
the volume and promote the special holiday. He has contacted radio
stations around the nation and overseas in Australia and Britain as
well as setting up a free website where people can read more about the
reasons for the holiday and get a free look at the entire text of his
book in English -- and Chinese. Go
figurre.[http://batteries101.blogspot.com]
"The holiday is observed annually on April 7, the website explains why
that date," Mr. Bloom says. "But people can recharge their batteries
any day of the year, and every day of the year if they wish, so there
is no need to stick with the official date of the holiday. The point
is to give people a smile and a chuckle as well as a small incentive
to recharge their batteries, in any way they wish, be it a trip to the
beach or a long walk in the mountains, or a candlelit dinner with a
very good friend or whatever. There are no rules for this holiday.
Anything goes."
"And of course, I hope to promote my book 'It's Never Too Late To
Begin Again,' which is a picture book for adults, a gift book that I
hope will never stop giving, it's a nice sweet book for friends and
co-workers, and even if people don't buy the book, that's okay with
me, I hope they will just read the text and look at the pictures on
the website free of charge. The point of all this is to promote
something nice, not the next big thing, just the next nice thing."
Mr. Bloom's interest in recharging one's batteries (and writing a book
about the fact that it's never too late to start your life over again,
no matter how old you are) is because he himself has been recharging
his own batteries all through life, working at a long series of
different jobs in different countries, and finding success not in fame
or financial worth, but in his own sense of self and individual worth.
"I created this holiday to encourage other people to follow their
dreams, never give up, against all odds, and continuously recharge
their batteries in ways that are useful for them," Mr Bloom said in a
recent email from a small tropical island in the western Pacific
Ocean, where he is, presumably, recharging his batteries on a daily
basis.
Mr Bloom wrote his book in 2003. Since then he's been promoting it and
selling it via the Internet and a few select bookstores worldwide.
Feedback from readers around the world convinced him, he said, to try
to reach out to more and more people, using the Internet and email
services. After 29 publishers in New York rejected the book, Mr Bloom
said he found a publisher in Oregon who was willing to take a chance
on him, and the results so far have been positive. He has sold around
3,000 copies worldwide so far, he said.
Sales might be more tepid if not for Mr. Bloom's flair for
self-promotion, which extends well beyond his coining of holidays. He
has called radio station talk-show hosts around the world, many of
whom were eager to put Bloom on the air and have him deliver his brand
of positive thinking to listeners and early morning commuters.
"There are alot of people who need to be reminded that it's never too
late to begin again," Mr Bloom says. "So the idea of an international
day to recharge your batteries is useful, and if it gives people a
little chuckle or a smile on the way to work, more power to everyone!"

go figure.)
